Graphic Uploader ManualRequirements:
Windows PC with Internet Explorer 4.0 or above. How Do I Use It?: The Yahoo Store Graphic Uploader is designed to be very simple to use. There are only a few selections that you need to worry about. After running the program you will see a screen similar to the snapshot at the bottom of this page. Fill in and select the fields as follows: Store ID: This is where you put the ID of your Yahoo Store. Your Yahoo Store ID is the portion of your store name that follows "store.yahoo.com/" in your store URL. For example, if your store is located at http://store.yahoo.com/buybathware then your Store ID is buybathware. Variable to upload to: This is where you select which item variable you would like to upload each graphic to. The drop down box includes the three standard Yahoo variables (icon, image and inset) or you can simply type in any custom variable you use in your store. File Suffix to use (not shown below): This field is used so the program can determine which files to upload if you have multiple files in one folder but with different suffixes. For example, if you have an item with an ID of ABC and you want the image file to be ABC.jpg but the icon file to be ABC_Icon.JPG then to upload the image you would leave this blank but to upload the icon you would put _Icon in the Suffix field. Yahoo User ID & Password: These fields are where you must enter your Yahoo User ID and Password which you use to access and edit your store. These fields are used to access your store manager so the program may do the uploads and they are not used for any other purposes. These settings are saved when you exit the program but they are encrypted so they can't be easily found by anyone accessing your computer. Yahoo Secure Password (not shown below): This field is for your secure user password. This field is used if you have your store set to require secure login for every page. This setting is saved when you exit the program but they are encrypted so they can't be easily found by anyone accessing your computer. Graphics Folder: The three boxes to the right of this are used to select a drive and folder you would like to upload. The files box (far right) is to give you a preview of what files are in the folder. All files in the folder will be uploaded (assuming there is a matching item in your store with the proper variable). Load Sub Folders: This check box allows you to select a specific folder but also have all sub folders get uploaded as well as the starting folder. Upload Button: Once you have filled in all the previous information and selected the appropriate folder to upload simply click the upload button and the process will begin. Every graphic (JPG or GIF) in the selected folder(s) will be attempted to upload. Each graphic should be named the same as the item (or page) in your store that you want them uploaded to. So if you have an item in your store with an ID of "00123EA" then the graphic for that page would need to be named 00123EA.GIF or 00123EA.JPG . It is important that you do not try to use the computer while the graphic uploader is running. As it uploads each file it is required to send certain keystrokes when selecting the file to transmit. This is a limitation of the Yahoo Store File Upload control and can't be changed. If you attempt to use your computer you will see that this window keeps popping on top as it goes to upload each file. It will not necessarily do harm, but the results may be unpredictable.
After the uploading is complete the program will ask if you would like to see a log of the files uploaded. This is provided so you can find out if there were problems uploading any files and why. That is it. You now are an expert in using the Yahoo Store Graphic Uploader. | ||||||||||||||||
